Parallels Drawn
Notes as Typefaces
Swaras (notes) act like typefaces, with variations like fonts (regular, italic). Combining swaras builds ragas, just like combining fonts creates artwork.
Hierarchy
Prominent vs. less prominent notes (vadi, samvadi, etc.) are mirrored in typographic hierarchy (size, emphasis).
Rhythm & Tempo
Taal (rhythm) is like font size, laya (tempo) like line spacing. The zine visualizes this with "teen taal" in typography.
Ornamentation
Both music (alankar) and typography (dingbats) use embellishments.
Classification
Ragas have classifications (thaats) similar to typefaces.
Tempo Through Type Anatomy
The word “Sangeet” (music) is broken down to depict tempo in different raga sections.

Composition as Zine
When opened, the entire zine forms a cohesive composition, mirroring music. The visuals enhance understanding. Ascending/descending melodies ("aaroh" & "avroh") are shown through typography, and "taal" & "laya" are given visual representations. A limited color scheme adds interest and hierarchy.
